Visiting Jakub Finger, a landscape architect and founder of the Partero studio, who chose Fleysen furniture not only for his home but also for his studio, was full of energy and enthusiasm. Jakub has long focused on quality, timelessness, and practical use of materials, which is why he selected our products as part of his everyday work and life.
How did you discover Fleysen furniture?
I stumbled upon Fleysen by chance. I've always been fascinated by metal furniture because it combines lightness and timelessness. When I came across Fleysen shelves, I was instantly drawn to them and started following their work. When I needed new shelves for my home, the choice was clear. Maybe I saw them on Instagram for the first time, but they caught my eye with their elegance and utility.
"The legs are great—they allow you to place a folder where everyone can store their personal items or whatever they need. This way, things don't clutter the desk, which is an incredibly efficient way to create a beautiful, light, and absolutely versatile work table." Photo by Dita Havránková
What convinced you that Fleysen shelves were right for you?
For me, Fleysen shelves embody timeless industrial design. They are not only functional and durable but also easy to maintain. To take it to the extreme, even if they wear out after years, you can just sandblast them and repaint. They remind me of the quality design from the '50s and '60s, when things lasted for decades, and their style always stayed relevant.

How does Fleysen furniture fit into your interior?
My life and studio are based on simplicity and functionality. Fleysen furniture fits perfectly into this concept. Everything here serves a purpose; nothing is over the top. Fleysen shelves complement my interior with their lightness and the fact that they don’t overwhelm anything—they are a quiet yet essential partner for any space.

How do you use Fleysen furniture in your studio?
In the studio, I need maximum flexibility. We work with various materials and techniques—from wood to 3D printing—and the space must adapt easily to current needs. Fleysen boards allow for simple rearrangements, as the holders and accessories are easy to move. This is key for me. Moreover, we 3D print accessories for the boards in the studio, which allows us to tailor the furniture exactly to our needs, further increasing the flexibility of the workspace.

How important are colors to you?
Colors play a very important role for me. I love muted shades like white and gray, but in the studio, we opted for yellow. In the workshop, we chose yellow and black boards for practical reasons. Yellow has become our signature color, adding energy to the space. We chose black boards for the metal workshop because they better withstand dirt and are easier to maintain than lighter colors.

What features of Fleysen furniture do you value the most?
I value that Fleysen furniture is not only aesthetic but also highly functional. Every detail is thoughtfully designed to make daily use easier while still looking good. The lightweight metal constructions don’t feel cumbersome and allow for flexible arrangements. Additionally, the materials used are durable and easy to maintain, which is key for me both at home and in the studio.
What’s your overall impression of Fleysen furniture?
Timeless design, simplicity, and high functionality are key values that Fleysen furniture embodies for me. In the studio, I chose shelves and boards in a striking yellow, which became the dominant feature of the space, and white legs, which beautifully complement the space with their cleanliness and simplicity. Thanks to Fleysen, the workspace is not only functional but also aesthetically cohesive.
