Fleysen in the living room of an Israeli designer!

Thanks to her profession, Vika has an excellent understanding of metal and knows all its advantages. But what caught her attention about our shelving unit was that it didn't look like metal at first glance . The photographer and I went to visit her to see how such a seemingly cold piece of furniture works in a warm family environment.

How did you discover Fleysen and why did you choose him?

My husband and I discovered the Fleysen brand at Designblok and immediately knew that this shelf belonged in our living room. It was exactly what we had been looking for for a long time – minimalist and yet somehow interesting.

Did the fact that the product has an FSC ecological certificate or that it is easily recyclable play a role in your choice?

I don't really care about certificates that much, but I like metal. As a jeweler, I work with it and I also use its recycling in my work. That's why I like the idea of ​​furniture made of metal. My husband and I were also interested in this shelf because the metal doesn't look so simple and you can't even recognize it at first glance, which is probably due to the workmanship and quality of the paintwork.

In order for the shelf to be so subtle, yet secure, it needs to be screwed to the wall. Was this a problem for you? And how was it put together overall?

The installation was easy and we had a lot of fun with the kids. At the same time, we are used to screwing everything in for the safety of the kids, so I don't see any problem with it.

Jewelry designer Vika Mayzel hails from Israel, where she graduated from Shenkar College of Design and Engineering. She is often inspired by fine art in her work. She currently lives with her family in Prague, where you can also visit her studio in Vinohrady.
