In the third part of the series, which follows Fleysen products in their new homes, we went to the studio of illustrator Anežka Hájková and graphic designer Jakub Spurný. Anežka and Jakub bought two tall standing shelves #1210 , only to find out after a short time that they were 100% satisfied with them and wanted (more of them). In the end, the Fleysen shelves line one entire wall of the studio .

We first bought two shelves, but we liked them so much that we ended up having four. — Anežka Hájková and Jakub Spurný

The young creative couple originally liked the light green shelf, but their artistic demands ultimately led them to a bright red shade after a difficult selection process . This complements the Robot lamp in the space, designed by Anežka's distant great-great-uncle Josef Hůrka for the Lidokov company.

How did you discover Fleysen and why did you choose him?

Jakub: We were looking for shelves for the study and Fleysen caught my eye some time ago on the Nanovo website, which I trust. I really like varnished wires in combination with larger surfaces, I like it when thin lines intersect a large surface. I couldn't find anything similar from other Czech manufacturers. The combination of price, appearance and decent load capacity definitely won out.

Anežka: When Jakub showed it to me, I just said, "Yeah, that's the best," and that was it. We first bought two shelves, but we liked them so much that we ended up having four.

Did the fact that the product has an FSC ecological certificate, that it is made in the Czech Republic, or that it can be easily recycled play a role in your choice?

Anežka: When it comes to sustainability, we mainly think about whether the furniture will last us a long time and whether we will like it for a long time. It is also important for us that it is a local product.

Jakub: In the case of furniture, we don't think so much about recycling, but rather about the fact that if the shelf is made of metal and from a Czech brand, we can get in touch if something goes wrong. What is important to us is that such an all-metal design product makes sense and won't just be destroyed.

How did you assemble the shelf?

Jakub Spurný is a leading Czech graphic designer and winner of many awards, including the Czech Lion for the poster for the film Zátopek and several places in the Most Beautiful Book of the Year competition. He works for the Najbrt graphic studio.
Anežka and Jakub chose several slim standing shelves #1210 for their creative space. You can find out what other Fleysen products look like in the work environment or homes of our customers in other parts of the series It's at home!
