I like old architecture, so I really liked that you were in that old factory. – Cyril Kratochvíl
There were several reasons why Cyril chose our furniture. He has a connection to architecture and history , so he was interested in the story of our factory , he was looking for a material other than wood for the interior, and last but not least , he specifically went for our signature round perforation - the round shape is repeated in many places in the Orlo premises.
How did you hear about us?
I've always enjoyed design, so I first registered the award you won at Designblok (nomination for the best furniture collection at Designblok 2021, ed. note). I read about you somewhere on the internet and since I also like old architecture, I also liked that you were in that old factory. Then it took about a year or two before we started renovating this office, so I remembered you.
In that case, you are absolutely our ideal customer! So was the story of our traditional factory in Plesná important to you?
Exactly, but if I wasn't interested in the resulting products, the story wouldn't be enough. But I like your furniture and even though I come from a family of carpenters (my dad has a carpentry business and I'm originally a trained carpenter too), I was looking for a material other than wood.
So you weren't afraid of metal?
No, we've had tables made of rusty sheet metal for a while now, and I can see that metal can withstand the rough treatment better than wood. So I wasn't worried, I was actually really looking forward to seeing how it would look.
How and why does your furniture fit into the interior of Orlo?
It fits in here because it is completely different. We needed a different material and new colors for the wooden floor. And the perforation with the wheels also fits in here. The holes of the same shape are right on the climbing walls and we purposefully repeat them elsewhere, for example on the heating. My mother is an artist and she brought us a painting with a similar motif, so it's gradually coming together.
What do you imagine when you hear the word Fleysen?
I see that beautiful gray factory that caught my eye, and your first light blue cabinet through which I recognized you.

Orel is a physical education unit that operates throughout the Czech Republic. The České Budějovice branch is one of the largest - around 300 children visit the climbing wall and other clubs there every week . The main task of Orel, according to its mayor, Cyril Kratochvíl, is to "teach children and adolescents that people should treat each other nicely and with respect."
